I finally decided to upgrade the stock stereo in my STI. I decided to go with Pioneer DEH-7800MP.
Key factors that influenced my decision:
Full color display with changeable "screen-savers"
Spectrum Analyzer
Level Indicators
50W x 4
BBE (unbelievable results with this)
Complete cross over capability
Remote
Configuration
For now, I am using the stock speakers; I have adjusted the 7800MP's cross-overs to only pass 125Hz and above the all 6 stock speakers.
For the lows, I installed my Kicker Contender box in the trunk. This box is modified to only operate the 12" drivers. The amplifier is a PILE A200.
Depending on the source material, I use the SUB filters to pass frequencies below: 200 ~ 50 Hz.
The sound is surprisingly good considering the stock speakers in the cabin.
