THE NEED FOR SPEED

Norwalk OHIO

I enjoy MOTORCYCLE DRAG RACING  I ride a SUZUKI GS1100E .  As you can see, I do not like wheelie bars!  My goal was to keep the bike looking as close to stock as possible.  The engine has been modified for durability more  than for performance.  The key components of the engine that have been "adjusted" are:  Mikuni 38mm radial flat slide carbs, WISECO 1134cc PISTON KIT, FALICON  balanced and welded crankshaft (this crank was used in one of TONY LANG's old bikes), Oversized intake valves. UPDATE, 5/2001 I have installed WEB-CAM 168 grind cam's and am in the process of "tuning" them in ! To date, (7/02/2001) I have run a best ET of 10.041 with MPH at 138.524.

The stock rear wheel has been modified to accept a 7" GOODYEAR slick but they stopped making the "low profile" tire years ago. I just (July 2002) used up my supply of "left over" slicks and have changed to a Metzeler ME1 MBS 180/55/18 street tire. The swigarm has been extended by 3.5" to help keep the front end down during launch.  My wheel and swing arm were modified by "DALES CYCLE" in WISCONSIN.  Dale does excellent work at making his modifications look very "stock".  Give Dale a call at 262.252.3035 if you want more information and please tell him I sent you his way !  I also use a MRE air shifter.

I race mostly for the fun of it and try to attend the  AMA / PROSTAR and IDBA events that are close to Michigan.  I run the PRO-ET class.

Stats:  Best elapse time: 10.041 seconds Best MPH was 138.524 ... all of this in 1/4 mile !

My bike is a 1982 Suzuki GS1100EZ. I bought this bike in 1983 and rode it on the street for two years before I started drag racing! This photo was taken just after I bought the bike!

Here is a shot of the bike in 1998, notice the difference!
